Regulation is to ensure inappropriate content isn't broadcasted. The BBC is regulated by The Office of Communication

5) How do Doctor Who and His Dark Materials help the BBC to meet the BBC's remit to inform, educate and entertain?
educating through the science , informing through the different time periods seen in the show and entertaining through the characters and plot lines. HDM does mostly entertaining as it's a fantasy/ action and adventure show
